Colourful, Part II

Continuing with the many colours of a dim, rainy afternoon near Big Tree Creek ...

Starting with a frond of that red bracken.

Cladonia lichens on a stump, bright green in the rain. With a dead cedar leaf, rust brown. And Douglas-fir needles.

Dallasite rock and Douglas-fir cones on yellow-green moss. The cone on the right still halfway hides one of the "mice". Rather skinny, this little grey one.

Dallasite is "unique to Vancouver Island. ... It is thought to have been formed as pillow lava underwater." (BC Rockhound)

The bright greens of Douglas-fir.

Buds of red elderberry. One of the first shrubs to leaf out in the spring.

Evergreen sword ferns. With yellowish roadside grasses.

Warm tan blades of a large grass or reed, unidentified for now.

More Cladonia lichens.

Young Douglas-fir trunk, with white lichen patches.

And there are still more! Some interesting lichens, white and a very pale blue. I'll process those photos tomorrow.

Unos líquenes interesantes, blancos y casi, apenas azules. Mañana me dedico a procesar esas fotos.

I'm having to moderate all comments because Blogger seems to have a problem notifying me. Sorry about that. I will review them several times daily, though, until this issue is fixed.

Also, I have word verification on, because I found out that not only do I get spam without it, but it gets passed on to anyone commenting in that thread. Not cool!
