Colours under a grey sky

It has been one of those Island specialty days, when no matter how you dress for the weather, you're out of luck. Rain and wind and lowering clouds so that it's dark at noon, alternating off and on with mild warmth, an attempt at sunshine. A good day to stay home.

I ventured out, jacketless in one of the calm spells, hoping to tidy up wind-fallen flowers. I got as far as my driveway before the wind, getting back to business, drove me inside again. I took a few photos; it was raining again by the time I got to the geraniums.

I think these will be the last of the sweet pea flowers.

The geraniums seem to like the rain.

The weather forecast says tomorrow will be more of the same, then steady rain for the rest of the week. I went out and bought new rain gear; my old poncho fell apart last spring.

Hoy fue uno de esos dias que son la especialidad de la Isla; no import como te vistas para el clima, te equivocaste. Llueve, sopla un viento fuerte y frio, las nubes bajan hasta dejarte en penumbra a mediodia; esto alternando con momentos hasta calientitos, con el sol tratando de penetrar las nubes. Fue un buen dia para quedarme en casa.

Salí en la tarde, sin chaqueta en un momento de calorcito, esperando levantar y rescatar algunas de las flores que el viento había aplastado. Apenas llegaba a la cochera cuando el viento regresó de su pausa para el café y me metió de nuevo en casa. Pude sacar unas cuantas fotos, pero para cuando enfoqué en los geranios ya llovía de nuevo.

3. A los geranios parece que les gusta la lluvia.
4. Los alisos; estos estarán floreciendo bien aun bajo las primeras nieves.

Los meteorologos nos prometen otro dia cambiadizo para mañana, y después lluvia constante para lo que queda de la semana. Salí a comprarme un poncho de lluvia nuevo. El viejo se desbarató esta primavera pasada.
