Yay!

Crocuses!

First of the season

At Tyee Spit

And my snowdrops are up.

The weather is back to the norm; it's raining. But the snowdrops and crocuses are up! Let it rain!

More spring goodness

Crocuses!

With stripy shadows from the shrubs across the path.
 And snowdrops!

Resting my eyes from counting distant Trumpeter swans. The snowdrops droop in a swan-like posture, too.

And forsythia!

Recent windstorms had broken off a few branches from the forsythia on my front lawn. I realized they were trying to bud, even lying abandoned on the grass, so I brought them inside and gave them some water. And now they're blooming before their sisters back on the bush.

So very yellow!

And early spring flowers!

Still testing the new 85mm lens. These photos were taken in fairly bright sunlight, from a few feet away each time, and mostly one shot only, except for the daffodils, because I was hoping to get that fly. I continue to be happy with the new addition.

White hellebore, growing in a sunny spot. Mine, in the shade, are still in the bud.

Purple-pink crocuses, in the shade.

One solitary crocus in an abandoned garden.

Daffodils against the cement wall of the new church next door. With a fly.

Cropped photo, with the fly still there. This was taken from the far side of the landscaping strip, about 2 to 3 metres away.

Heather. They've got full sun and a warm wall next door, so everything is thriving.

Oregon grape, just getting started in our semi-shade plot.

And a tall tree, which will later convert a semi-shade area to full shade. Not for a few weeks yet, though.

Now, if it would only stop raining - again! - I could take the lens down to the beach and field-test it.

All the colours of the rainbow

It stopped raining. The sun showed up to work. While I went out and tidied the garden, Laurie took my pocket camera and went for a walk. He found a yard full of crocuses, purple, yellow, and deep, deep blue.

About time!

A hermit crab went out, too. Outside the tank, at least.

"Can't eat this green stuff. Put me back!"

And the cat stayed home and did what cats do.

Antique Japanese ceramic cat. Sleeps 24/7/365.

(I was trying out a new lens, 85 mm. Good for sneaking up on bugs without scaring them off.)

More colours of spring - Purple

Beach Grove is a delight at this time of year.

Crocuses pop up everywhere, providing spring vitamins for slugs and ants.

Dead leaves, fresh crocuses

A miniature iris with purple and white tips.

Purple pansies

Deep, rich colours in full sun.

Royal purple

Humble periwinkles at the base of a wall. With bonus brown spider.

A grove snail basks in the sun on the purple wall.

Here in North Delta, we're about two weeks behind Beach Grove. But one of my hellebores is blooming already; spring's a-coming!
