Bright end of the season flowers

Many of the remaining flowers in my end-of-season garden have been beaten down onto the grass by wind and rain. I rescued those that were most entangled and brought them inside.

Dahlias, small sunflowers, wilting cosmos, alyssum, and flimsy euphorbia.

(I had planted regular sunflowers, but the deer kept eating the tops, so I have short stalks with small, end-of-season blooms, now that the deer have moved on to fallen pears.)

I don't think I've ever stopped to look a cosmos full in the face before.

Cosmos centre with the yellow disc florets producing their black seeds.

Dahlia centre. I like the alternating rows of yellow and red petals.

And then I fell down another rabbit hole, so I'll stop here and leave the Wonderland photos for tomorrow.

I'm having to moderate all comments because Blogger seems to have a problem notifying me. Sorry about that. I will review them several times daily, though, until this issue is fixed.

Also, I have word verification on, because I found out that not only do I get spam without it, but it gets passed on to anyone commenting in that thread. Not cool!
