Holes in the sky

We're always taking photos of crows. Day after day, we bang away at the black acrobats overhead or try to capture their personality on land; that unassailable self-assurance, that pert gleam in their eye.

We have very little to show for our efforts. Laurie says it's like taking photos of holes cut out of the scenery, black holes that swallow all the light.

Occasionally something half-way works. Like these, I think:

The walk. All business.

Demolishing a bud.

Maintaining that shiny black.

About that crow and eagle video: I haven't forgotten. I've finally got my computer back to normal, I think. If all goes well, the video will be online this weekend.

I love that first photo. It just screams "crow attitude"

What a strut. Nice. Must be beautiful where you are.

  3. Attitude. That's the right word.

    Outwalking... : yes, it is.

  4. I know what you mean about the difficulties of photographing crows. This series of shots is great. I have a big collection of photos with crow silhouettes.

  5. I too, love that first photo ... struttin' his stuff. I haven't got a good photo of a crow yet ... I thought it was just me.

  6. Well done.

Those ravens are ravenous, they are ubiquitous, too.
Yet, I've worked my feathers to the bone trying to get good photos of them.

  7. I love the description of crows being black holes in the sky. So appropriate! I've never gotten a good shot of one - just a good silhouette.

That first picture really does shout out an "attitude".

I'm having to moderate all comments because Blogger seems to have a problem notifying me. Sorry about that. I will review them several times daily, though, until this issue is fixed.

Also, I have word verification on, because I found out that not only do I get spam without it, but it gets passed on to anyone commenting in that thread. Not cool!
