Aging wood

I'm still sorting out my forgotten photos. These are from back in March and April. Textures and shapes of old wood.

The remains of the base of a branch on an old log, gradually turning itself into soil. I first saw this log 10 years ago; it's got a few useful years in it yet. Oyster Bay.

This log has split itself lengthwise, growing moss in the long cracks.

Is that an eye?

I've taken photos of this twisted stump before. This was in March. Baikie Island.

Woodpecker dinner. Above the Campbell River.

I'm having to moderate all comments because Blogger seems to have a problem notifying me. Sorry about that. I will review them several times daily, though, until this issue is fixed.

Also, I have word verification on, because I found out that not only do I get spam without it, but it gets passed on to anyone commenting in that thread. Not cool!
