Down in the moss under the Douglas-firs, where the sun rarely shines, where everything is green or brown, these two little mushrooms stand out. White, pure white, and translucent, they seem to radiate light. Their common names are well deserved.

A new common name for these here in BC is "Spirit Gummy Bear", a cross-over of two ideas; they look and feel like the candy gummy bears, and once we're thinking of bears, they remind us of the white bears that live on the islands along the central and northern BC coast, the Spirit Bears.

Entre el musgo que crece en el suelo de un bosque de abetos de Douglas, donde raras veces penetra la luz del sol, donde todo es verde o marrón, estos dos honguitos llaman la atención. Blancos, de un blanco puro, translúcidos; parecen emitir su propia luz. Sus nombres comunes fueron bien escogidos.
- Alas de ángel, Pleurocybella porrigens.
- Crecen en los troncos y topones de árboles coníferos, y producen sus hongos en el otoño.
- Este tiene varios nombres comunes: Jalea con dientes, Lengua de gato, entre ellos. Pseudohydnum gelatinosum. Con un colémbolo globular.
- Este brota desde abajo de la corteza de un tronco. Y lleva otros 2 colémbolos.
- Tienen la textura de hule, y el lado inferior lleva pequeños "dientes". Se vuelven más oscuros con la edad.
Un nombre nuevo para estos hongos, que usamos aquí en Colombia Británica, es "Espíritu de Osito de Goma", sugerido por dos características; tienen la textura de los dulces ositos de goma, y ya que estamos pensando en osos, recordamos los osos blancos que viven en algunas islas cerca de la costa central y norteña de BC; los Osos espíritu.
