Hard-working old wood

Logs. Just logs on the beach. Wood that floats in with every storm, and thereafter settles in there, preventing erosion on the land side, trapping bits of seaweed and broken shells on the side facing the tide. And sometimes providing beachgoers with construction materials.

Another human-built structure. A lot of energy goes into making these; I've rarely seen them used. (Although I have used one or two for shade on a hot day. But they don't keep off the rain.)

The root end of a log, calling out into the sky. Oyster Bay and Quadra Island.

Just because.
~~~~~~~~~
Troncos de madera flotante. Troncos que se apilan en la playa, llegando con cada tormenta, y que desde  entonces forman una barrera que impide la erosión en el terreno colindante, y que, en el lado que mira hacia el agua, detiene pedacitos de algas marinas y conchas rotas. Y a veces, provee a algunas personas demasiado activas, materias para la construcción.
    1. Otra estructura humans. Se dedica mucha energía a la construcción de estos refugios, pero raras veces los he visto en uso.  (Aunque yo he apreciado la sombra de uno u otro en dias calurosos.  Pero  no protegen contra la lluvia.)
    2. La raiz de un tronco; parece que grita. ¿Registrando sus quejas contra el destino que lo abandonó aquí, lejos de su hogar en el bosque?
I'm having to moderate all comments because Blogger seems to have a problem notifying me. Sorry about that. I will review them several times daily, though, until this issue is fixed.
Also, I have word verification on, because I found out that not only do I get spam without it, but it gets passed on to anyone commenting in that thread. Not cool!
