Moody Blues

View from the dining room at Strathcona Park Lodge. Looking across Upper Campbell Lake to the entrance to the Gold River Valley.

Looking WestSouthWest.

Google Maps view, annotated.

Bumpy terrain, isn't it? On this central and west side of the island, the only flat spaces are the larger bodies of water. Rivers and such aren't really flat; they keep falling over waterfalls.

Elkhorn Mountain, to the left, is the second highest peak on the island at 2194 m. (7198 ft.), only 1 metre shorter than the Golden Hinde, 15 km. to the south. Mount Flannigan, on the right, clocks in at 1556 m. (5105 ft.).

Some of the other peaks bordering this valley entrance, not labelled, are Bear Lair Peak, 1711m., Big Den Mountain, 1774 m., and Trio Mountain, at 1761 m.. Was that a Trio of Bears, or of hikers?

Terreno quebrado, ¿no?

I'm having to moderate all comments because Blogger seems to have a problem notifying me. Sorry about that. I will review them several times daily, though, until this issue is fixed.

Also, I have word verification on, because I found out that not only do I get spam without it, but it gets passed on to anyone commenting in that thread. Not cool!
