In the cool of the evening

At the end of a long, hot day, an evening walk as the sun goes down hits the spot. I even had to wear a light jacket! Here's the sun setting over Oyster Bay, as it developed.

From the parking lot, looking Northwest, over the meadow. 8:30 PM.

From the outer shore. More or less North-northwest. 8:43 PM.

8:52. Still walking the outer shore. Northwest by north

9:08. From the dike, looking over the inner bay. The tide is low, so there's mud.

9:12. Turning my back on the sun, to watch the swallows chasing mosquitoes far above.

And the last gasp of the light. 9:20 PM.

And sunset, with no trees to shield the sun, was at 9:36 PM. that day. By the time I'd returned to the meadow, all that was left was a warm orange haze on the clouds.

Another Skywatch post.

I'm having to moderate all comments because Blogger seems to have a problem notifying me. Sorry about that. I will review them several times daily, though, until this issue is fixed.

Also, I have word verification on, because I found out that not only do I get spam without it, but it gets passed on to anyone commenting in that thread. Not cool!
