Short visit

15 seconds with Harlequin ducks.

"Hey! Someone coming!"

"She's got a camera!"

"¡Vámonos!

Making tracks.

Two male Harlequins in breeding garb; the females are a mousy brown, except for white patches on the face, and non-breeding males are blotchy, slate blue, brown, with white head spots, no chestnut colour.

I like their scientific name: Histrionicus histrionicus, although it really only applies to the males. Showoffs!

~~~~~~~~~~
Quince segundos con los patos Arlequín.
Los dos son machos, y en su plumaje de la temporada de reproducción, el invierno. Las hembras son de un café pardo, aparte de unas manchas blancas en la cara. Y los machos, fuera de temporada, llevan sus colores azul/gris y café, sin definición en el cuerpo, con las manchas blancas de la cabeza. Han perdido el color castaño por completo.
Me gusta su nombre científico: Histrionicus histrionicus, aunque parece que solamente se aplica al macho en temporada.
I'm having to moderate all comments because Blogger seems to have a problem notifying me. Sorry about that. I will review them several times daily, though, until this issue is fixed.
Also, I have word verification on, because I found out that not only do I get spam without it, but it gets passed on to anyone commenting in that thread. Not cool!
