Icy tips

The tail end of winter. The sun was shining, and felt warm on my back. But in the shade, the frost nips at fingers.

On the shady shore of Roberts Lake, the moss is covered with tiny ice crystals.

Moss, sporangia, ice, on an old log.

The ice clumps at the tip of the moss blades.

Rocks are colder: the ice covers most of the moss.

Oregon beaked moss and Douglas-fir cone.

I'm having to moderate all comments because Blogger seems to have a problem notifying me. Sorry about that. I will review them several times daily, though, until this issue is fixed.

Also, I have word verification on, because I found out that not only do I get spam without it, but it gets passed on to anyone commenting in that thread. Not cool!
