The mushroom hike, continued.

When the human world goes insane, Ma Nature waits, ready to ease your mind.

And there are always more mushrooms; I found these following a trail leading away from the Quinsam river bank, into mixed brush and forest. It's bottom land; wet, weedy, well travelled. There's a beaver pond somewhere in there; I didn't find it. I'll have to go back.

Bolete with a red stalk on a stump. My guide book suggests Boletus zelleri.

Another, on the same old stump.

A tall mushroom, about 15 cm. tall. Google images suggests Amanita sp.

Pale gilled mushroom with smallish big-leaf maple leaf.

These ones have the dangly remains of a partial veil.

On a mossy log. The slugs have been feasting.

Stereum sp.?

I should have looked more closely; the underside is toothy.

Crested coral fungus, Clavulina coralloides, parasitized by another fungus, which turns it blue. And poisonous.

More coral fungi. These were everywhere.

And yet another.

From here, that same afternoon, I went on to the hillside above Elk Falls. A quick walk, and more dozens of mushrooms. I'm processing those photos today.

Cuando el mundo de los humanos se enloquece, siempre está allí la Madre Naturaleza, lista para calmar tu mente.

Y siempre hay  más hongos; estos los encontré alejándome de la orilla del rio Quinsam. Terreno bajo, con arbustos y hierbas nativas y exóticas, y árboles de hoja caduca y perennes. Tierra húmeda, algo maltratada. Por allí hay una laguna hecha por los castores, pero no la hallé; tendré que regresar.

Los hongos:

1. Un hongo Boletus creciendo en un tronco viejo. Mi libro guía sugiere Boletus zelleri.
2. Otro en el mismo sitio.
3. Un hongo grande, aproximadamente de 15 cm. de altura. ImágenesGoogle sugiere uno de los Amanita sp.
4. Hongo pequeño con laminillas. Y una hoja chica de arce de hoja grande.
5. Hongos con el velo universal, ya desgarrado.
6. Un grupo de hongos en un tronco cubierto de musgos. Las babosas han estado comiendo los sombreros.
7. Creo que estos son Stereum sp.
8. Debería haberme acercado más; la superficie inferior parece dentada.
9. Hongo coral, Clavulina coralloides. Está infestada por otro hongo, lo que le da el color azul. Y que además lo vuelve venenoso.
10. Otro hongo coral. De estos, había muchos por todas partes.
11. Y uno más.

Desde aquí, esa misma tarde, pasé a la ladera arriba de las cataratas Elk. Un paseo corto, pero con más docenas de hongos. Estoy procesando las fotos hoy.
