It was an afternoon for finding lichens. The recent weather has brought down many old trees (and broken a few young ones, too), scattering lichen-covered branches through the bush. And where the trees stood firm, the ground underneath is covered in licheny twigs; I brought home a few handfuls to look at more closely.
And some, I just looked at and left them where I found them.
Lichens in hand ...
A very tidy bone lichen. |
And a messy one, covered in mature apothecia and black soredia. |
And on the ground ...
Bone and leafy lichens. The open apothecia sort of look like flowers. |
And those fallen branches had their uses. Story tomorrow.

Fotos:
- Un liquen "hueso", Hypogymnia sp.. Muy limpiecito.
- Otro, todo revuelto, con apotecios y soredia.
- En el suelo, líquenes folioso y "hueso". Los apotecios, así abiertos, casi parecen flores.
Y esas ramas caídas sirvieron para algo. Mañana, les cuento.

I'm having to moderate all comments because Blogger seems to have a problem notifying me. Sorry about that. I will review them several times daily, though, until this issue is fixed.
Also, I have word verification on, because I found out that not only do I get spam without it, but it gets passed on to anyone commenting in that thread. Not cool!
