I'm having to moderate all comments because Blogger seems to have a problem notifying me. Sorry about that. I will review them several times daily, though, until this issue is fixed.

Oh, wow. I've never seen one like that. Is that the lined (or striped) shore crab (Pachygrapsus crassipes)?
ReplyDeleteNo, he's our common native shore crab, Hemigrapsus oregonensis, usually called just "green shore crab", but also the "Oregon shore crab", which name is probably less confusing, because we also have an invasive "green crab", the
ReplyDeleteCarinus maenus.
This is ours, and this is the invader.
