A tiny flower showed up at the edge of my lawn a couple of years ago. Wait! That's wrong. A few tiny, frail leaves showed up in my garden two years ago. Last year, there was a flower. One flower. This year, there's one flower and two buds. Coming right along!
It looks like an anemone species, a tiny one. The flower stands only 12 cm. tall.

The anemones are in the buttercup family; the yellow buttercups grow wild in my lawn and would take over if I didn't keep ripping them out. I don't think this one, even if it's a relative, will be any problem.

Una flor pequeña apareció al borde de mi césped hace dos años. No, miento. Unas hojas chiquitas y frágiles aparecieron hace dos años. El año pasado, produjeron una flor. Una. Esta primavera, hay una flor y dos botones. No tiene prisa.
Parece ser una especie de anémonas, muy pequeña, midiendo (la planta entera) solo 12 cm.
- Se parece a algunas variedades de Anemone hortensis.
- Un botón. Las hojas se dividen en lóbulos agudos, y el tallo y el reverso de los pétalos son velludos.
- Segundo botón, abriéndose.
- Las hojas, el tallo, los pétalos. Y un áfido.
Las anémonas pertenecen a la familia Ranunculaceae. Los ranúnculos amarillos crecen con gran entusiasmo en mi jardín, y cubrirían todo si no fuera que yo los arrancara con entusiasmo igual. Esta florecita, aunque sea de la misma familia, no creo que presentará problemas.
