Lupin Falls

I took a quick trip to Buttle Lake today. Hiked up and down a few hills. Stared at overhanging rocks. There were orchids! Pillow lava! Pinesaps! Waterfalls! Mushrooms! Candystick saphropythes! Snowy peaks! Aching knees! (Ignore that; the cost of admission; a bargain!) Indian paintbrush and columbines and twin flowers and honeysuckle and more!

I'll be processing photos for a few days. For now, here's Lupin Falls.

From the viewpoint along the trail.

The drop here is 120 feet; 30 more than Elk Falls, but with a tiny fraction of the flow. It even dries up towards the end of summer.

And the creek goes on down the hill, about 200 metres, in small leaps.

Partway down. Still quite a ways to go to reach the lake far below.

I always check the waterfalls in the World Waterfall Database. About Lupin Falls, they comment:

This waterfall is likely to exist, but its exact location, stature, and attributes have not yet been determined or confirmed. (WWDatabase)

I had to laugh. It exists. And I found it just in front of the viewing platform in the centre of a 1 km. loop trail.

Me hizo reir.

I'm having to moderate all comments because Blogger seems to have a problem notifying me. Sorry about that. I will review them several times daily, though, until this issue is fixed.

Also, I have word verification on, because I found out that not only do I get spam without it, but it gets passed on to anyone commenting in that thread. Not cool!
