The yellow flower is Balsamroot, possibly Puget balsamroot/ Balsamorhiza deltoidea. According to my Wildflowers of the Pacific Northwest it occurs on the Island. Slopes full of Balsamroot is a glorious sight down here in OR and Wa in the spring!
