Hot and dry

Tidying up leftover photo files, I found these from the stay in Mazatlan.

On the stump of a palm tree, cut down to knee height, dead and dry; very dry, out in the blazing sunshine on the edge of a sidewalk, a few mushrooms were growing. Dry mushrooms, of course.

The stump was hot, dry, and as hard as the cobblestones around it.

The biggest mushroom is about 3 inches tall. They were hot to the touch, too.

There must be some moisture down deep inside the stump.

I'm having to moderate all comments because Blogger seems to have a problem notifying me. Sorry about that. I will review them several times daily, though, until this issue is fixed.

Also, I have word verification on, because I found out that not only do I get spam without it, but it gets passed on to anyone commenting in that thread. Not cool!
