After the Dance

Dying tulips. I find them very appealing in their bedraggled finery, reminding me of a troop of dancers wilting in the dressing room after a long program.

And a sad sunflower, drooping after a hot and busy summer.

Venus Reflected

Venus in a bathroom mirror. This photo intrigues me because of the change in colour from cream to green, in a clear mirror and a white-painted bathroom. Which looks pinkish, probably because of the red-brick colour of the house next door.

Why, then, is the reflected statue green?

Boathouse Door

This door was on a boathouse at the Marina near Crescent Beach. The rest of the boathouse was ho-hum.

Reifel Island photos:

The marsh at Reifel Island on a hot June day. Most of the ducks are hiding in the reeds, or waiting for us at the base of the tower.

A sandhill crane at the far end of Reifel Island. They breed there every year, but this year, none of the babies survived.

And a coot; the world's silliest-looking bird.

 This photo glamourizes it, hides the ragged legs that look like they belonged to some other, bigger bird, and de-emphasizes the flappy feet. It does show how the body seems to be cut off around the ribs, with the whole tail end missing.

They show up in Reifel in the spring, and mix in with the ducks at the entrance on Sunday afternoons, looking for handouts.

The photo is not ours; I seem to have lost a roll somewhere. When it shows up, I'll post it.

T'aint fowl, but he's definitely in the water. A crab, awaiting dinner (not his, sadly) in Chinatown, Vancouver.

Well, here I am again, presented with a blog, just because I registered in order to comment on someone else's blog.

No wonder there are so many of us bloggers out there!
