Hitchhiker

Now, at the end of the summer, spiders are starting to show up. They're still mostly small; it hasn't been a  good year for small beasties, from bees to butterflies to birds. I'm fattening a pretty cross spider by my window, feeding her fruit flies raised on apple cores. Doing my bit to keep the food chain going.

This zebra jumping spider turned up on my car door.

Zebra jumping spider, Salticus scenicus, female.

It was hard to sneak up on her, with those eyes in the back of her head.

And then she ran away.

I'm having to moderate all comments because Blogger seems to have a problem notifying me. Sorry about that. I will review them several times daily, though, until this issue is fixed.

Also, I have word verification on, because I found out that not only do I get spam without it, but it gets passed on to anyone commenting in that thread. Not cool!
