I once had a neighbour who was a professional photographer. He used to come over in the spring to take macro photos of our rhododendrons. His kit, besides the (expensive) camera and tripod, included: a white towel to set the colour balance by, a soft cloth to polish the leaves, a paintbrush to dust the petals and remove fallen pollen, a small scissors to trim the ragged edges of any damaged petals, and finally, a spritzer to give the flowers that early-morning dew look. I was in awe.
And a bit intimidated.
I was thinking of him today as I processed these flower pics.

Okay; I do indulge in a bit of post-processing. In the lily photo, I erased my friend's hand; she was holding the flower down within my reach. And I try to reduce the noise in the shadowy parts. And set the colour balance to "landscape" and usually, "daylight". But I'm not striving for perfection.
Good thing, because nature is usually not perfect. It's hard at work, keeping this world going.

I'm having to moderate all comments because Blogger seems to have a problem notifying me. Sorry about that. I will review them several times daily, though, until this issue is fixed.
Also, I have word verification on, because I found out that not only do I get spam without it, but it gets passed on to anyone commenting in that thread. Not cool!
