Trillia

All Canada's park lands are closed. The hike I had planned for today, up the hills on the Canyonview Trail, had a sign at the entrance: No Entry. I ended up scrambling through the bottom lands, outside the park, among the mosquitoes and the mud puddles. But there were bonuses.

Trilliums, for one.

This one has pinkish petals.

And this one is almost pure white.

Messy leaves. The yellow spots on the petals are pollen. Maybe most of the mess on the leaves are, too.

I couldn't get around to the front of this one without wading in mud. But I liked the rear view, anyhow.

More swamp plants tomorrow.

  1. Everything is contradictory. Wouldn't it be nice if everyone could be off work AND be allowed to go on long country walks. Here (in England) too people are having to stay close to home and, it seems, if their home is close to somewhere wild they are encouraged not to walk there either. We don't have trilliums - at least, I don't think we do. I'm wondering whether our primroses would be our parallel harbingers of the season.

I'm having to moderate all comments because Blogger seems to have a problem notifying me. Sorry about that. I will review them several times daily, though, until this issue is fixed.

Also, I have word verification on, because I found out that not only do I get spam without it, but it gets passed on to anyone commenting in that thread. Not cool!
