Love bug?

I picked this up in a thrift store, some years ago, and it's been resting quietly on a bottom shelf, keeping out of trouble. Finally, its chance came: it waved at me this morning, shouting, "Hey! It's Valentine's Day! My day to shine!"

Scorpion, 4 1/2 inches long, trapped in acrylic. I don't know where it's from.

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!

  1. I guess scorpions can be pretty nasty little guys. One time I went on a camping trip to Baja California. We parked our truck on a beach and were enjoying a campfire. I carried a log under my arm and then threw it on the fire. To my surprise, a scorpion scurried out of it's pulpy center and out of the flames. I'm so glad he didn't choose to sting my bare skin as I was carrying it so close to my body. Happy Valentines Day and jogging my memory of that great (if scary) trip. - Margy

  2. Yikes! I did almost the same thing with a black widow, hiking on Popocatepetl. But I was wearing a warm jacket, so I was relatively protected. But a scorpion under your bare arm -- scary!

  3. I love it! May I use the photo, with credit, on a bok review I am doing? I'll link back to your post. It fits perfectly with the book!

  4. Jennifer, Yes, I'd be happy for you to use it. I'd like to see the review when it's done; I'm wondering what book this would match!

  5. It's a book I've been asked to review, not yet published. They actually mention one of these. Lots of crystals, magic and knitting.
I must finish the book! I read the first 100 pages whilst waiting in the ER, with chest pains!

I'm having to moderate all comments because Blogger seems to have a problem notifying me. Sorry about that. I will review them several times daily, though, until this issue is fixed.

Also, I have word verification on, because I found out that not only do I get spam without it, but it gets passed on to anyone commenting in that thread. Not cool!
