Green and gold

Ducklings at Cougar Creek Park

And a proud mamma, too.

  1. Our community swimming pool had a mama duck nesting in one of the nearby shrubs. The lifeguard crew barricaded the area with overturned lounge chairs while, for a few weeks, visitors extended our necks to see the nesting mom.

Last week, the barricade was gone, as was the mom and assumed eggs. Taped to the lifeguard station window was a picture of the mama and nearly a dozen ducklings making their way out of the shrubs and into the pool. Volunteers transported the family to a nearby pond where I'm sure they are more happy (and less chlorinated).

It was a nice subplot to the summer.

I'm having to moderate all comments because Blogger seems to have a problem notifying me. Sorry about that. I will review them several times daily, though, until this issue is fixed.

Also, I have word verification on, because I found out that not only do I get spam without it, but it gets passed on to anyone commenting in that thread. Not cool!
