Road to Nowhere

Deep in the Watershed Park, we found this bicycle stunt trail, obviously built by kids; no "official" trail led to it. We only chanced upon it because we had gone looking for mushrooms and removing branches fallen on them during the storm.

I didn't know what it was, at first; the end had blown down, and was a mass of broken sticks. But over the next log, it entered a clearing of sorts where a progression of assorted branches and poles, badly knocked together with rusty nails, made a ramp that climbed and swooped, doubled back, jumped gaps, crossed a teeter-totter arrangement, and ended on this narrowing bridge to nowhere, down a single notched pole and into the mud. Well-trampled mud, the entrance to a narrow pathway through the undergrowth. Some kids are using it regularly.

There are some things that a parent/grandparent is happier not knowing about.

I'm having to moderate all comments because Blogger seems to have a problem notifying me. Sorry about that. I will review them several times daily, though, until this issue is fixed.

Also, I have word verification on, because I found out that not only do I get spam without it, but it gets passed on to anyone commenting in that thread. Not cool!
