It's been raining lately, and mushrooms are bursting out all over. I went to Elk Falls today to look for spiders (I still needed a couple for the last three days of Arachtober) and found nary a sign of one. But the mushrooms! They were everywhere; hundreds of them, on logs, in the moss, covering stumps. I have dozens of photos to process.
These were taken last week, in tamer surroundings; a nicely biodiverse lawn.

The lawn is a mix of lawn grass, clover, buttercup, self-heal, mosses, dandelions and cat's ear, and several other small, hardy plants. It also collects a variety of leaves: oak, mountain ash, cherry, arbutus, maple. Plus assorted small berries. The bees love it!

Ya empezaron con ganas las lluvias, y por dondequiera brotan hongos. Fui hoy a Elk Falls a buscar arañas, porque me faltan por lo menos dos para terminar el mes de Arachtober (Arañoctubre). No encontré ni una. ¡Pero los hongos! Estaban en todas partes, entre el musgo, en los troncos caídos, en el suelo, y cubriendo por completo un tocón. Cientos de hongos. Tengo docenas de fotos para procesar.
Estos hongos, los encontré la semana pasada, en un sitio menos salvaje; un césped urbano, felizmente biodiverso.
Fotos:
- Un honguito muy pequeñito.
- Grupo familiar.
- Las laminillas en la parte inferior se ven através del sombrero.
- Un botón de Amanita sp. (matamoscas).
- Había muchos de estos, y cada uno tenía esa hendidura en un costado.
- Otra Amanita. Se antoja darles una mordida. ¡No te atreves!
En el césped se encuentran, aparte del pasto acostumbrado, el trébol, consuelda menor (Prunella vulgaris), ranúnculos, diente de león, "oreja de gato" (Hypochaeris radicata), varios musgos, y algunas otras pequeñas plantas duraderas. Encima le caen hojas de roble, de Sorbus sp., de arce, de Arbutus menziesii (madrone Pacífico), y cerezo. ¡A las abejas les encanta!
