Between the flower and the fruit

Flower petals, glorious though they may be, mask an inner beauty. I caught up to these ex-flowers beside the path at Oyster Bay.

Unidentified tree; now that the petals have dropped, I have to wait for the fruit to recognize the tree.

Bracts like fuzzy stars, and a beetle wrapped in yesterday's yellowed petal.

If your comment is on a post older than a week, it will be held for moderation. Sorry about that, but spammers seem to love old posts!

Also, I have word verification on, because I found out that not only do I get spam without it, but it gets passed on to anyone commenting in that thread. Not cool!
