Pink and blue

After a grey day, driving back and forth on the back end of town, running routine errands, I needed some colour. Leftover snow, scraped into heaps, oozing into mud puddles, covered by splattered street grunge, makes everything look so dreary!

So I turned to these forgotten photos from the summer of 2013: favourite flowers I hope never to find in my garden.

American brooklime. Grows in the mud, in ditches and along creeks. About 2 inches tall.

Hardhack, Spiraea douglasii. Another wetlands plant. Will form tall, dense thickets, will take over all available wet ground. Hard to hack down. Or through.

Ah. That's better.

I'm having to moderate all comments because Blogger seems to have a problem notifying me. Sorry about that. I will review them several times daily, though, until this issue is fixed.

Also, I have word verification on, because I found out that not only do I get spam without it, but it gets passed on to anyone commenting in that thread. Not cool!
