The youngsters' feathers are half-grown, so that they have patterned upper backs, fuzzy middle backs, and the beginnings of pattern by the tail.
Lesson for today: little boys on the dock just might have something good to eat. Look hungry, kids!

I'm having to moderate all comments because Blogger seems to have a problem notifying me. Sorry about that. I will review them several times daily, though, until this issue is fixed.
