Wonder what he's thinking

Raking the garden a few days ago, preparing a spot for planting lupins, I disturbed this big, black, ground beetle. He scrambled across the lawn, but was surprisingly docile once I'd caught him.

He was a dull black, I thought, until the light played on him; then he turned out to be beautifully decked in iridescent blues and purples.

As curious about me as I am about him.

Day two of early mornings and long days behind me. One more to go.

  1. Oh wow, he's a beautiful insect! What great close-ups. Glad to have found your place through Clytie's Random Hearts.

I'm having to moderate all comments because Blogger seems to have a problem notifying me. Sorry about that. I will review them several times daily, though, until this issue is fixed.

Also, I have word verification on, because I found out that not only do I get spam without it, but it gets passed on to anyone commenting in that thread. Not cool!
