In a prickly situation

a common red soldier beetle

whiles away the day with a soft-chitined companion.

Some seek quiet, private corners for their trysts;

Others proclaim their love from the highest peaks.

Soldier beetles, Ragonycha fulva, on thistles, White Rock beach.

  1. I guess they don't feel our need for privacy. :) Neat photos, I've been seeing these guys around for a few weeks but kept forgetting to look up who they are. Now I know!

I'm having to moderate all comments because Blogger seems to have a problem notifying me. Sorry about that. I will review them several times daily, though, until this issue is fixed.

Also, I have word verification on, because I found out that not only do I get spam without it, but it gets passed on to anyone commenting in that thread. Not cool!
