One Downtown Block, Glimpse of the Next

Pub 340. Just around the corner from Gastown and the Water Clock.

To its left: an alley to nowhere, with a window. Presently used to store old boxes, apparently.

And to the right: another alley to what used to be somewhere. The old Woodwards, I think. According to the City of Vancouver, they are "... currently on a journey to bring the building back to life." Sure doesn't look much like it.

Cyclists, Uni- and Bi-.

"Look, Ma, no hands!"

Seen cycling around Maclean Park in Strathcona. While we watched, she went to the end of the block, turned the corner and wheeled out of sight. All without a wobble.

In the waterpark, enjoying the last rays of evening sunshine. Getting the bike washed, the laundry done and the evening shower all taken care of at once.

Look at the delight on the kid's face!

On the Sand Dunes

The dunes at Boundary Bay, with a flying mountain. (Mount Baker)

A red-winged blackbird protecting his nest, in the shrubbery below
.

Gumweed.
That white stuff is like a glue; damp, even in the bright sunlight, and very sticky. The whole plant is sticky with it.

When I took a sample home and kept it in a cup of water, it stayed wet and sticky for days.
