Tying up a loose end

I'd misplaced this photo of pigeon guillemots from Mitlenatch Island.

The elegant white wing patches are the summer outfit of breeding adults.

Mitlenatch Island is an ideal site for them; they nest in crevices or burrows among boulders or on cliffs.

The Pigeon Guillemot often scales vertical rock faces by some vigorous flapping of its wings combined with the use of the sharp claws on its webbed feet. (Cornell: Pigeon Guillemot: Cool Facts)
