Little Miss Mischief

I'm babysitting again. A handful of kitten.

"Costa"

Within fifteen minutes of arriving, she had eaten Chia's food, found the basket of toys and chosen one, and discovered Chia's basket. A few minutes later, she was killing Chia's sock full of catnip. Now she sleeps in Chia's bed.

Chia is not happy.

Short nap on the bookcase before she thinks of more mischief.

She has spent the evening trying to reprogram my computer. Managed to change the screen saver and call up an accessory I've never even seen.

Genius! Evil genius, that is.

And she looks so innocent!

This and that

Clearing the decks; photos I intended to post, but misfiled. Most of these are from July. In no particular order.

Alyssum in my garden. With purple innards.

Or yellow.

Sweet William. This plant has been with me for years; it keeps coming back.

Path through the salal. McIvor Lake.

Teeny-tiny spider on a ceramic chicken.

Evergreen blackberry, Rubus laciniatus. "They're red when they're green," we used to remind ourselves. Hard and acid at this stage, still edible.

Seeds of Indian consumption plant, Lomatium nudicale, in the shade, with a sunny field behind. Aka Bare-stem desert parsely. This patch is at the edge of the dry dunes at Oyster Bay.

Seeds of the same plant, when the clouds parted to allow the sun in.

Green apple on an old apple tree. Oyster Bay

Two green apples.

And last; kitten at midnight, watching a crane fly. Flash in a dark room. The kittens have gone on to their new homes now; this was Tig's last night.

Lichen to rocks

I'm back on-line*. Now, where was I?

Oyster Bay: the Misc. file.

Slanting afternoon light on the grasses and logs of the shore/forest interface.

Cladonia lichen on a log end.

Sand dollar test on the sand bar.

Rocks on the breakwater, with gull poop and barnacles.

And on the edge of the park, a ditch full of foxgloves and daisies.

*The problem was simple: a server update, with no warning and new passwords. Complicated by a genius programming kitten, who can, with a few strokes, make changes that take me an hour to fix. She even turned my screen display upside-down, and re-worked a half-edited photo, both actions together, instantly. Bill Gates, watch your back!

Tiger face

Chia had kittens last night. Four: grey, black, stripy, and the tiger.

"Tig". About 12 hours old.

Takeover

This household is under new management. Changes will be made.

Chia. 9 weeks old, and already calling the shots.

She's been here only two hours, and I've had to redecorate, re-organize, and share my workspace. No telling what tomorrow will bring.

Report on a quiet afternoon

"Grandma," she said after school, "Let's go downstairs and you take pictures of my kitties!"

So that's what we did. Grandmas are good at being bossed about.

Blue eyes and grey-green.

Friends for life

Still toddlers. Rug cats, as it were.

Complacent Mamma.

Imaginary mouse

Long, long thoughts.

Then we went back upstairs and tackled weighty problems, such as "How hot is hot milk? And "Do we have any more bananas?"

I needed a day like that.

Not quite "raring" to go, but ...

I'm feeling a bit better; thank you for your get-well wishes.

Thinking, perhaps, that if this continues, and the weather co-operates, I'll be ready to be on the go again tomorrow.

Just a wee nap before we go, ok?

In which Grandma Weeta proves ...

... once again, that she's a pushover.

The evidence? Nap time:

Little Miss Attitude

Attitude, redux

Want the ball, kitty?

Now give it back!

Now what's she doing?

Look, kitty, I put all of Daddy's socks under the sheet!

I can so kill those socks!

You mean I can get up now?

Such a relaxing nap! I feel fresh as a daisy!

Yay! Up an' at 'em!

Well, I don't know about you two, but I'm ready for a nap.
