Brought the forest home

More rainy day photos; looking at moss indoors. These are samples that I brought home three weeks ago. One gets misted every day; the other, on bark, has been sitting on the soil of a plant pot which is watered lightly once a week.

Moss with mature sporophytes. These are the spore-producing stage of the moss.

This may be the Broom fork moss, Dicranum scoparium. Found on the forest floor, under evergreens.

Possibly one of the tree mosses. The sporophytes will appear in spring.

And on the same piece of bark, after I misted it, these lichens turned bright green.

So after all, they say it's going to rain tomorrow again. More indoor photos coming up!

~~~~~~~~~~~
Mientras sigue lloviendo, yo saco fotos dentro de la casa. Estas son fotos de musgos que traje a casa hace tres semanas. A uno le rocío con agua todos los dias; el otro, en la corteza de un árbol, está encima de la tierra en una maceta que riego ligeramente una vez a la semana.
  1. El musgo con sus esporófitos. Estos producen y esparcen las esporas del musgo.
  2. Puede ser Dicranum scoparium. Lo encontré en el suelo del bosque, bajo árboles coníferos.
  3. Posiblemente sea uno de los musgos "arbol". Sus esporófitos aparecen en la primavera.
  4. Y en ese mismo fragmento de corteza, después de que lo rocié con agua, estos líquenes pequeños  se volvieron muy verdes.
Y  mañana volverá a llover. Habrá más fotos de plantas dentro de la casa.
I'm having to moderate all comments because Blogger seems to have a problem notifying me. Sorry about that. I will review them several times daily, though, until this issue is fixed.
Also, I have word verification on, because I found out that not only do I get spam without it, but it gets passed on to anyone commenting in that thread. Not cool!
