Ruined my peanut butter. Ate right through the plastic. (I bought it in 5 gallon drums, those days.)

I'd walk in and see those beady eyes staring at me from behind the canning jars. Cute critter, but I resented the loss of the peanut butter.Susannah Andersonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11923063322849781223noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30584505.post-33262148200171528042008-12-19T09:51:00.000-08:002008-12-19T09:51:00.000-08:00The only rats I can look at without cringing are n...The only rats I can look at without cringing are neotomas (wood rats, a.k.a. packrats). I went out and dumped half a bag of red-hot chilaca powder all over the area near the bird feeders.

I wonder if you put Tabasco in your compost, whether it would discourage the rats.Susannah Andersonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11923063322849781223noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30584505.post-51930756243462431712008-12-15T16:58:00.000-08:002008-12-15T16:58:00.000-08:00Black rats seem almost elegant compared to Norway ...Black rats seem almost elegant compared to Norway rats I've been battling for a few weeks now. They came under the fence and made a subterranean assault on the compost bin--what a mess. I've employed a small army of snap traps but still haven't got them all. Last year I had to resort to poison, and I suppose I will again soon if I keep seeing signs.

The compost has to go, unfortunately.Hugh Griffithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10009591922841705072noreply@blogger.com
