On Twitter, a couple of commenters are saying it's a fox. Not too convincing.

Biobabbler,
I agree; they washed up because they were dying. I wondered about the cause of death. It wasn't stormy weather, which sometimes does them in. Dying after laying their eggs does make sense, and the date is right.

Clytie,
Glad you liked the Melibe photos; I did, too, but I worried that some people might be grossed out at photos of dead things, especially ones that look slimy.Susannah Andersonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11923063322849781223noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30584505.post-23584667726423484422011-06-24T11:04:50.139-07:002011-06-24T11:04:50.139-07:00Too bad you don't have a time machine to go ba...Too bad you don't have a time machine to go back and see which critter made the prints! I'm at a loss, myself.

The melibe photos are absolutely stunning. I enlarged them, and am in awe of what I see close up!!!

See? Even though they move in a similar pattern, print sets of four. A good question, no doubt.Erik Frostrupnoreply@blogger.com
