Ano...Thanks, all for the "happy dances".

Anonymous; I have two sources for water. I used to bring all my water from the bay, hauling it back in two-litre bottles every time we went. Now that we're not able to go as often, I bought a sea-water mix from the aquarium store (20 kg.) and mix it with filtered water that I have let sit for a few days to make sure there are no remnants of chlorine in it. I test it each time for salinity, and test the aquarium itself every couple of days.

The homemade water is very clear, much more so than bay water, but it's also "dead". "Live" water has food sources such as copepods and planktonic stages of other invertebrates, so I wouldn't go entirely with artificial water.
Susannah Andersonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11923063322849781223noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30584505.post-56576751911527749962012-12-04T18:45:47.594-08:002012-12-04T18:45:47.594-08:00Great posts about our tentacled overlords!
