This sign, beside the railroad tracks in New Westminster, intrigues me.

From the limited field of the bottom photo, it looks as if the fence approaches close to the track at that point, and that there is an identical sign facing away from us a little further away. The signs would be to warn railway workers that there is not enough clearance to walk or stand next to the track between those points, when a train comes through.
That's my amateur rail-enthusiast guess, anyway.
Thanks, Steve. That makes sense. I'll have to go look at the other sign, and take a closer look at the terrain. I think you're right about the clearance there.
